IPL 2008: First Season




The 2008 season of the Indian Premier League marked the beginning of the Indian Premier League which was set up by the BCCI in 2007. The season began with the final match of 1 June 2008 on 18 April 2008. A dual round-robin group was the start of the competition, with each of the eight teams playing a home match and an away match against each other. Two semi-finals and one final followed the matches.



Rajasthan Royals defeated Chennai Super Kings in the final match of the season, Yusuf Pathan named the player of the season, and Shane Watson awarded the tournament player. Sohail Tanvir has earned the purple bowler cap for the top winner of the tournament, while Shaun Marsch has earned the orange cap in the tournament for the leader in the run-off. Shreevats Goswami got the best reward for the under-19 players, and Chennai Super Kings won the Fair Play special trophy.



After the victory of Kings XI Punjab over the Mumbai Indians on Mohali on 25 April 2008, Harbhajan Singh, the standing captain of Mumbai, slapped Punjab's Sreesanth under his eyes. The incidents became evident when Sreesanth was captured before the ceremony with TV cameras who sunk inconsolably on the ground. Ever since Sreesanth had reported that he had no complaints against Harbhajan who was like an elder brother to him. He had no complaints. Harbhajan's team lost their third match in a row as he apparently aggressively responded to Sreesanth 's approach to him and said "hard luck."
