Mumbai Indians Team of Legends

The Mumbai Indians are a franchise cricket team based in the Indian Premier League (IPL) town of Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Founded in 2008, the squad is controlled by India's largest company, Reliance Industries, through its 100 percent India Win Sports subsidiary. The team has played their home matches since its formation in Mumbai's 33,108-capacity Wankhede Stadium.

In 2017 the Mumbai Indians became the first franchise among the IPL franchises to cross the $100 million mark in brand value. The most successful team on the IPL is Mumbai Indians. They won the 2011 Twenty20 Champions League after defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final by 31 runs. The team captured the double by winning their first IPL title in 2013, by beating Chennai Super Kings by 23 runs in the final, and then beating the Rajasthan Royals by 33 runs later that year to earn their second Champions League Twenty20 trophy. They earned their second IPL title on 24 May 2015 by defeating the Chennai Super Kings by 41 runs in the final and becoming the third team to win more than one IPL title.

The Mumbai Indians effectively bid for seven players during the player auction in 2008 including two winning side representatives of the Indian Twenty-20 World Cup, Harbhajan Singh, and Robin Uthappa. Other cricketers that the franchise successfully bid for were Sanath Jayasuriya, Lasith Malinga, Luke Ronchi, Dilhara Fernando, and Shaun Pollock.
Outside the player auction, the franchise was also signed by Ajinkya Rahane and Abhishek Nayar (from Mumbai), Yogesh Takawale (Maharashtra WK-Batsman) and Pinal Shah (Baroda WK-Batsman). Saurabh Tiwary and Manish Pandey, the members of the winning team of the U-19 World Cup were the random picks drafted in during the second auction held by BCCI.
