Sachin Tendulkar: God Of Cricket

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is an Indian former cricket player and a National Team captain. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest batsmen in the history of cricket. He is the world's highest run-scorer. Tendulkar took cricket when he was eleven, made his test debut at the age of sixteen on 15 November 1989 in Karachi in Pakistan, and represented Mumbai domestically and India for almost twenty-four years internationally. In 2002, at the end of its tenure, Wisden Cricketers' Almanack, behind Don Bradman, ranked him the second-highest test-batsmen of all time and the second biggest ODI-batsman of all time.

In 1994, Tendulkar won the Arjuna Award for its athletic achievement, the 1997 Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Awards, India's top sporting awards, and the 1999 and 2008 Padma Shri and Padma Vibhushan Awards, the fourth and second highest civilian distinctions, respectively.

The Prime Minister's Office announced the decision to award him the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, after a few hours of its final match on 16 November 2013. He is the youngest individual ever to receive the award and the first sport's male.

Bangladesh, India, and Sri Lanka hosted the 2011 World Cup from February until April. With a total of 482 runs of 53.55, including two centuries, Tendulkar was India's top run-scorer for the tournament; only Sri Lankan's Tillakaratne Dilshan scored more runs in the 2011 tournament and was named in the ICC 'Tournament Team.' In the finals, India beat Sri Lanka.

On 16 March 2012, at Mirpur against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup, Tendulkar scored his 100th International hundred. He was the first person to accomplish that feat in history, which was also his first ODI hundred against Bangladesh. He said, "It's been a tough phase for me ... I didn't think about the milestone, the media started all this, wherever I went, the restaurant, room service, everyone was talking about the 100th century. Nobody was talking about my 99 hundred. It became tough mentally for me because nobody was talking about my 99 hundred."

Tendulkar accepted the nomination of Rajya Sabha proposed by the President of India in April 2012 and became the first active sportsman and cricketer to have been nominated. Sanjay Manjrekar, Ajit Wadekar, Madan Lal, former cricketers expressed their shock at this move. He took office oath on 4 June. He declined to take the bungalow in New Delhi that was allocated to him, calling it "waste of taxpayers ' money" as he resides in Mumbai. His attendance at the Rajya Sabha proceedings met with some controversy. In 2019, Tendulkar contributed to the construction of a Children's Park in East Bandra with Rs. 22 lakh from his MPLAD funds allocated to him during his term as Rajya Sabha MP.
